The success of your schools old mobile phone collection will largely depend on how successful you are at publicising it.

The following are a list of suggestions of ways we have seen schools efficiently and effectively run a large old mobile phone collection in their school:

Letters:

  • Talk to the school community in a positive way about the benefits of the scheme and follow this up with a letter from the school to explain the scheme will ensure that the correct message reaches every household. Remind the children that their families friends and relations all have old phones and just need to be asked if they would donate them to the school
  • Local businesses will be more than happy to assist if they know that they are benefiting a local school

Media:

Make full use of local media (radio and newspapers to discuss your campaign and rally around for support in the local community. See our news section for schools that have advertised in National Print

Publicity:

The Schools or Parish Website, the church newsletters, notice boards, post offices, community centres etc can all be used to inform the local area that your school will take in their old mobile phones.

Schools Pack

Make full use of the resources in the schools pack. The more the school community knows about the work of Jack and Jill Foundation, and the greater awareness children have of their role in conserving our environment, the greater the enthusiasm the will have for the collection!
