“My baby Brendan has been in hospital for 2 weeks now. The doctor has finally given us a more definite diagnosis of his condition. He has very severe CP, he is spastic quadriplegic, he has cortical blindness, query epilepsy – and the rest is guesswork.

At the moment he is a very unhappy baby. He appears tormented a lot and once he’s awake for more than 15 minutes, he’s unhappy on his back. He really is having a lot of difficulty – the one good thing is up to this he’s been feeding well, but in the last fortnight this has been getting worse. An ng tube went in last night but I hope this will be short term.

People say to me that this awful thing happened to Brendan for a reason and I find that hard to accept.”
