Dingle Hillwalking Club Taster Walk for Prospective New Members + Jack & Jill Fundraising Event

September 28, 2014

On Sunday 28th September Dingle Hillwalking Club is organizing a low level taster walk for potential new members combined with a fundraising event for the Jack & Jill Foundation

img_5905While there is no charge for this walk, participants will be encouraged to make a donation to the Jack and Jill Foundation at their own discretion. The proposed route is an 8 km – 3 hour loop in the Dunquin/Clogher area. The meeting point is Garvey’s Supervalue at 10am or the Blasket Interpretive Centre at 10,30am. Participants will get an opportunity to interact with club members on this walk. While waterproof clothing may be required (subject to weather conditions) hill walking boots are not essential on this particular route. This event is organised in conjunction with Radio Kerry.

Thank you!

The walking year for Dingle Hillwalking Club begins again in October.

The club is compiling a schedule of walks for the coming year combining a mix of difficult, moderate and easy walks (scheduled for alternate Sunday, mostly in the Chorca Dhuibhne area). During the year we will also make a few trips to Killarney to explore the McGillycuddy Reeks and there are also plans to visit locations outside the county and possibly beyond. Garvey’s Supervalu in Dingle is the assembly point for the walks which are usually held on Sunday starting at 10.00am. A membership fee is payable to cover registration and insurance with Mountaineering Ireland.

This is an opportunity for anyone who is interested in exploring the outdoors or to view the sea and mountain landscape in remote locations on a regular basis with like minded people. Anyone interested in joining the club can obtain an application form and walk schedule from Jimmy O’Connor (085-2300232), Mossie O’Halloran (087-7942136)  or the club’s website:  www.dinglehillwalkingclub.com
