ONE HOUR

FOR MOST OF US AN HOUR CAN PASS IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE.

One hour that gives a family breathing space.

One hour that brings rest, relief and reassurance.

One hour that can make all the difference.

Hear Louise tell James’s story

James & the Garrahan Family

Seven-year-old James lives with Cri du Chat syndrome and requires round-the-clock care. Hear his mum Louise share how Jack and Jill supports James at home while giving her and Ger something incredibly valuable – time to rest, recharge and simply take a breath.

That’s the Power of an Hour.

Three-year-old Seán Óg

Seán Óg & the Ring Family

Three-year-old Seán Óg requires round-the-clock care, but Jack and Jill support gives his parents Charlotte and Kevin precious time to rest, recharge and spend time with his baby brother Sonaí, knowing Seán Óg is safe and cared for at home.

Hear the Ring family share what those hours mean to them.

Through the Eyes of a Sibling

Heidi & Chloe

Four-year-old Heidi is adored by her big sisters Ruby, Ella and Chloe. Hear Chloe share what Jack and Jill means to their family, and how the nurses who care for Heidi at home have become part of the family too.

A beautiful sibling’s perspective on the Power of an Hour.

Sinéad explain the difference Jack and Jill care makes to families

Recently, Today FM’s Louise Cantillon sat down with Sinéad Moran, Jack and Jill Head of Nursing, to talk about her 23 years with Jack and Jill and the difference that support can make for families.

Our nursing team works alongside families, listening to what they need and building care around their unique circumstances. Our experienced Liaison Nurse Managers support families through what can be an incredibly complex journey, connecting them with local nurses and carers who provide practical care and precious respite at home.

Sometimes those hours allow a parent to sleep. Sometimes it’s a coffee with a friend, time with another child, or simply getting through the jobs most of us take for granted. Sometimes it’s just the chance to stop, breathe and recharge for whatever comes next.

As Sinead puts it:

“We can’t fix the situation, but we can go on the journey with the family.”

THIS SEPTEMBER

SOMETHING POWERFUL IS COMING…

We’re teaming up with Today FM to launch Power Hour for Jack and Jill – a bold, nationwide campaign that will bring people, workplaces and communities across Ireland together behind one powerful idea.

€20 FUNDS ONE HOUR OF IN-HOME NURSING CARE AND RESPITE SUPPORT.

Join us, the presenters and listeners of Today FM for Power Hour for Jack and Jill.

Rally your colleagues, friends, family, school or club, choose how you will power your hour to raise vital funds in support of Jack and Jill families across Ireland.
However you power your hour, your 60 minutes can make a BIG difference.

ONE HOUR YOUR WAY

The best Power Hours are often the ones nobody has thought of before.

Take these ideas.  Mix them together.  Add your own twist.  Or create something completely different. If it gets people talking, brings people together and helps fund more Hours of Care…  It’s a Power Hour.

Three heart-framed photos of children and caregivers supported by the Jack and Jill Foundation

Today, Jack and Jill supports more than 520 families across Ireland, providing up to 100 hours of in-home nursing care and respite support every month to families caring for children with severe learning disabilities and complex medical needs. Our service operates seven days a week, with no waiting list, no means test and no red tape, helping families care for their child at home, where they belong.
