I had the very great honour of being chosen as one of the volunteers to work on your recent camp at Barretstown. I felt that I had to express what a fabulous experience this proved to be and how wonderful all the families and children were. I would like to thank Jonathan Irwin for his eloquent and engaging talk and let you know how completely enthralled and excited we all were because of it. I hope it was the first of many such camps as it was an exceptional weekend and from speaking with the families it was evident how much was gained by them all.
Barretstown has the unique ability of stripping everything back to the essentials and building from that, reminding those who have experienced trauma that the elements of themselves that they thought were destroyed are still there waiting to be rediscovered. I think everyone at the weekend rediscovered some part of themselves and I hope that they can continue to build on this.
Congratulations for all of the wonderful work that you do which is so undeniably essential to these families and thank you for the opportunity to meet such truly inspirational, fabulous people!
