The very first Jack & Jill cycle took place on Saturday 15th September 2012 with over 60 friends and supporters gathering bright and early at the Spawell Complex in Templeogue for the off…….
With refreshment stops and lunch en route to keep the cyclists energised and focused everyone arrived in Kilkenny safe and sound, albeit a little tired. Extremely exhilarated that they achieved their goal in cycling the 120km route and also raised much needed funding for Jack and Jill children in every community in Ireland, some well deserved R&R followed that evening with dinner and stories a banter between the many newly formed friendships. A free raffle with prizes ranging from a Fixie Bike to a deluxe Lily O’Briens hamper were up for grabs and added to the celebratory atmosphere.
This is the first of what we hope will be an even bigger annual event in the Jack and Jill calendar. Our sincere and heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported our cyclists through sponsorship and helped us raise over €30,000 to provide home nursing care our Jack and Jill children nationwide. The wonderful support, enthusiasm, friendliness and generosity of each and every cyclist really made it such a truly fantastic and memorable event…..
