How can Jack and Jill help my family?

The Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation is a nationwide charity that offers support, advocacy and an in-home nursing service to help children and their families under the age of five years who have a significant neurodevelopmental delay involving severe learning difficulties. This may include infants whose development future is uncertain: our service may be offered to them in the short term. Support is offered to all families whose child is at end of life within our age limit regardless of their diagnosis.

The Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation offer a child and family centred care service and believes that families should be supported to care for their children in their own homes.

On receipt of a referral the Specialists Children’s Liaison Nurse (SCLN) in your area will make contact. Our service offers the expert support of the SCLN who will advise, help and advocate for your family as well as overseeing the in-home nursing service. The service to all families is reviewed on a six-monthly basis.

Our role includes listening to parents and seeking solutions which can include making representation’s to other health care professionals and the government. The aim of our service is to reduce some of the worries/difficulties which come with caring for a child with additional needs while also allowing families have some time out.

Can I access Jack & Jill services from anywhere in Ireland?

Yes, the Jack and Jill Foundation provide services to children and families throughout the 26 counties.

Do you charge for services?

No, there is no charge. Our service is free to families. We rely on the generous support of individual donors and corporate sponsors.

Who can refer a child to the Jack & Jill Children's Foundation?

We accept referrals from families, medical professionals, social workers, GP’s, Public Health Nurse’s and Early Intervention Teams.

Following receipt of a referral, the Specialist Children’s Liaison Nurse in your area will contact you.

What do I do if we have no diagnosis for my child?

You may not have a diagnosis for your child, this is not uncommon. There are many rare and complex childhood conditions that take time to diagnose and some yet to be discovered.

Even without a named diagnosis, your child can still be referred to the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation as our service is based on the child’s needs.

Are Counselling Supports available?

Counselling in Primary Care (CIPC) is available free to medical card holders.

This service can be accessed through your GP or Public health Nurse.

Is there additional support available?

Additional support may be available. Contact your Public Health Nurse and Disability Services in your area. Your Specialist’s Children’s Liaison Nurse can assist with accessing additional services and support.

Where can I meet other families?

The Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation organise an annual family day which gives families the opportunity to meet and socialise with other families receiving support from the foundation.

How can I include Jack & Jill Children's Foundation in my financial settlement?

Some families decide to take legal proceedings for injuries their child may have sustained as a result of negligence.

Should you choose to seek justice through the courts, we would kindly ask families to complete an Undertaking Form – which asks you to include the financial support Jack & Jill provides in your claim – and mail it to the Jack & Jill office.

Once completed, The Foundation will return you the Undertaking Form in order for you to present it to your solicitor.
